Education

Doctor of Philosophy, University of Jyväskylä, (ongoing, started 1.1.2020) 

My doctoral thesis focuses on the early transmission and circulation of Decades, a historiographical work written by Italian 15th century humanist Flavio Biondo.

Master of Arts, University of Jyväskylä, 2016-2019

I majored in general history with a special focus on 15th century historiography. In my master’s thesis I studied the historiographical work of Flavio Biondo and how he described continuation and changes in the emperorship during Middle Ages. I minored in Latin and Italian.

Bachelor of Arts, University of Jyväskylä, 2013-2016

I majored in history and completed the pedagogical studies required to qualify as a teacher in middle and high school level. I also minored in French, Classical Culture Studies and Social science.

Relevant courses

Diplôme Européen d’Études Médiévales (FIDEM), 25.10.2021-27.5.2022

Multiple methodological courses (60 ECTS) on the study of written sources in the Middle Ages, such as Palaeography, Codicology, Latin, Diplomatique etc.

Scientific course, Finnish Institute in Rome 11.2.-12.5.2019

The course, held in Rome, focused on director A. Karivieri’s research theme of late antique Ostia and Portus. The goal was to learn scientific methods used in archaeology and study of history.

Legacy of Antiquity in Middle Ages and Renaissance, University of Jyväskylä 4.-10.12.2017

The course, led by prof. O. Merisalo in Rome, focused on the effects which antiquity had on following centuries.

Introductory course to Antiquity and Middle Ages, Finnish Institute in Rome 14.9.-9.10.2015

The goal of the course, which was held in Rome, was to introduce students the basic knowledge and skills needed in order to study premodern history.
